Thompson’s Bridge and Scrubby Creek Bridge have both been upgraded from timber to reinforced concrete, with works completed in February 2021. The existing timber bridges reached the end of their service life and were identified as high priorities for replacement by the Bridge Management System (BMS). Both were replaced with single span reinforced concrete bridges using the InQuik bridging system.The overall aim of both projects achieved were:
- Provision of more reliable and safer regional routes along both Upper Rollands Plains Road and Upper Pappinbarra Road;
- Provision of quality bridges for current and future users.
Works on the delivery of Thompson’s Bridge were undertaken by Council’s internal works crews. Scrubby Creek Bridge was delivered by contractor Eire Construction Pty Ltd. Project management of both bridges was managed by Council’s Infrastructure Project Delivery staff, and local company Bridge Knowledge supplied design and engineering services.
